Senior Litigation Counsel

Job Description

EFG Bank has an opening for a U.S. or U.K. licensed attorney, with a minimum of 6 years’ experience (but 10 or more years preferred), to join the Global Litigation and Investigations team in Zurich, Switzerland. This Senior Counsel role focuses on supervising cross-border and multi-jurisdictional, complex banking litigation and governmental investigations at a leading Swiss private bank. The ideal candidate has worked at a top-tier U.S. or U.K. law firm and has in-house experience within the financial services industry. Interested applicants should have a demonstrable track record of handling aspects of such matters with a high degree of autonomy.

Main responsibilities

• Overseeing and providing advice and strategic direction with respect to significant disputes (including civil litigation, arbitrations, criminal and civil government proceedings and investigations) globally and all such matters arising in the United States;
• Assisting with overall management of the litigation function and mitigation of litigation risk;
• Overseeing outside counsel and mantaining control over outside counsel fees;
• Ensuring high quality internal litigation reporting and appropriate public disclosure regarding litigation; and
• Coordinating with lawyers in the Legal group with respect to litigation matters and litigation issues arising in all parts of the world where EFG operates.

Skills and experience

• A member of a State bar in the U.S., or U.K.-licensed attorney, for a minimum of 6 years (but 10 or more years highly preferred);
• Must have U.S. or U.K. top-tier law firm experience;
• Must have obtained law degree from top tier U.S. or U.K. law school;
• In-house experience within the financial services sector preferred.
